Air pollution in March 2024 was much worse compared to March 2023. As per Central Pollution Control
Board, Gurgaon’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) of March 2023 was 189, 24 per cent more than in March
2023 which was 152. Both these levels fall in “poor” AQI level. This was mainly due to lower rainfall and
worsening pollution. In fact, Gurgaon did not see any “good” or “satisfactory” air quality days in March 2024. It
recoded 13 “poor” days and 18 “moderate” air days this March. Road dust and fumes from vehicles are the
major source of air pollution in Gurgaon.
