Gurugram is set for a major infrastructure upgrade with the announcement of 15.3 km long service roads
being built alongside the newly constructed Dwarka Expressway. This development, undertaken by the
Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), aims to address connectivity concerns and smoothen
traffic flow. The National Highway Authority of India had previously raised safety issues regarding the
expressway. In the absence of service roads, local traffic resorted to using unauthorised cuts to access the highspeed corridor, posing a danger to themselves and other commuters. The construction of service roads will
provide a safer and more designated route for local traffic, significantly reducing safety risks. The GMDA has
awarded the tender for the service road construction project. The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs
99 crores.
