Kalagram Society Hosts Third Annual Art Awards-2024
Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav honored distinguished personalities and emerging talents in the field of art and culture with certificates of appreciation at the Third Annual Art Awards-2024, held at the Apparel House auditorium in Sector 44. On this occasion, he welcomed and congratulated the recipients of honors in various art forms, including drama. The award ceremony was organized by the Kalagram Society with coordination from the District Administration, Gurugram.
Chief Guest DC Nishant Kumar Yadav inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, he stated that honoring these distinguished personalities who enrich society with their invaluable art and experiences is an inspiration for our younger generation. This award ceremony not only honors distinguished individuals but also strengthens the tradition and values for future generations, he added. DC emphasized that the main objective of starting the Kalagram Society was to provide a proper platform for local artists from Gurugram to showcase their art. He noted that over the past three years, the society has meaningfully fulfilled its objectives.
Sh. Nishant Yadav said that the aim is to appropriately honor experienced artists while encouraging emerging talents through this platform. He stressed the importance of art and culture in society and invited all award winners and artists to join the Kalagram board as a community. This step aims to promote a robust cultural network in Gurugram and integrate more art and culture into the community, he emphasised.
At the event, Shikha Gupta, Director of the Kalagram Society, mentioned that the organization strives to keep the multifaceted nature of culture relevant and vibrant. The continuous journey of honoring individuals in the art and culture world through numerous events will continue. She explained that the aim of the ceremonies held over the past three years has been to honor individuals whose special contributions inspire the preservation of Indian culture and guide society towards meaningful prosperity.
A distinguished group of award winners was honored at the ceremony, including Dr. Pasumarthi Vitthal and Dr. Bharati Vitthal (Kuchipudi), who received the KalaNidhi Award. Dhanya Nair (Bharatanatyam), Rajeshwar Vashisht (Poetry), Pamela Singh(Music), Deepak Castilano(instrument, Rama Pande( art and culture dedication), Harsh kumar(Theatre), Harish Gangani (kathak), Rekha Bajpe(Pottery), Harini Kapoor(music), Manisha Gera Baswani (visual Arts), Leena Dhankar (Journalism) and Shobha Bruta was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. There was a special category also to honour artists with special needs, Sharya and Debhragya won this award, Youth of the year winner was Gauri Mishra.
The evening featured several captivating performances, including Haryanvi folk dance by Bharatmonte Cultural Trust, an engaging semi-classical fusion by Sukun Band and a jugalbandi of flute, sitar and tabla by Satish Kumar Pathak, Umashankar and Ujjit Kumar. A beautiful Ganesh stuti by Jiya Vishwanathan added a touch of devotion to the ceremony.
