With the view to make Gurugram a solar city, Gurugram RWAs were urged to install solar in “Gurugram RWA Solar Meet 2018” organised by Gurgaon First at IBIS Hotel, Gurugram. About 25 RWAs attended the Meet.
The chief guest of the Meet was Mr P K Mahapatra, Additional chief secretary, Government of Haryana, New and Renewable Energy Department. Some of the speakers at the Meet were: Abhishek Nayak, Manager-Distributed Solar, Renew Power, Vinod Shankar Ravi, AGM, Havells India Ltd Mr Rajinder Kaura, Chairman-Bergen Group and Steering Committee Member- World Renewable Energy Forum, Rameshwar Birthal, Project Officer, New and Renewable Energy Department, Haryana and HAREDA Mr Vineet Bagga, President. Wellington RWA.
A solar help desk was launched at the Meet by Gurgaon First towards making Gurgaon a solar city. The help desk will facilitate best practices and knowledge sharing among RWAs. Officials from RWAs could write into [email protected] to ask specific queries relating to installing solar. A panel of independent experts have been selected to assist at the help desk. A document for best practices for installing solar in RWAs was also released and shared at the Meet.
Mr. PK Mahapatra, chief secretary Haryana informed that cities like Gurugram and Faridabad should become solar cities given that solar offers a pollution free and cost-effective solution. He talked about the fact that Haryana government is focussing on agriculture, small hamlets (or Dhanis) and government and public buildings to install solar. He said that subsidies may get delayed but would be surely delivered. He encouraged participants to give their views and suggestions stating, “You should suggest policy reviews and recommendations to government and thus participate in the governance process.”
