The Mayor serves as the ceremonial and functional head, while the Chairperson—typically a Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer—acts as the executive authority.
MCG plays a vital role in the city's planning, development, and public service delivery. Its responsibilities span a wide range of urban management functions including:
- Health and sanitation, including solid waste management
- Maintenance of municipal parks and green spaces
- Public infrastructure projects
- City budgeting and financial planning
- Fire safety and emergency services
- Collection of taxes, such as property tax
- Land use planning and licensing
The Corporation strives to enhance the overall quality of life for Gurgaon’s residents by ensuring efficient delivery of civic amenities and sustainable urban development.
