Function: Urban Development
The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), formerly known as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), is a key urban development agency established in 1977. Its mandate is to plan and develop urban areas in Haryana by acquiring and allotting land for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial purposes. Over the years, HSVP has played a vital role in shaping the urban landscape of Haryana by facilitating the structured growth of towns and cities. While its influence remains strong across the state, its role in Gurgaon and Faridabad has diminished with the formation of separate metropolitan development authorities for these cities. HSVP’s operations are financed through multiple sources, including land sales, government grants, and user charges, enabling it to undertake planned development initiatives.
